Earth Day Flyer

Earth Day.

Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22. Today is the day! Living in San Francisco, we are constantly surrounded by reminders on how to “greenify” our lifestyle; whether it’s by recycling, or bringing your own shopping bags to even using the dreaded PAPER STRAWS. One would also say, changing your eating habits also makes you a more “green” individual.

But did you know, there are small steps you can make every day in your dental routine to help you be more green? If you follow these simple tips, you can start every day being more earth friendly:

  • Brushing Your Teeth:
    • Running Water: When you’re brushing your teeth, try to be more conscious of leaving the water running. Turn on the water only to rinse your toothbrush and mouth
    • Slow Down! Many people find brushing their teeth is one of the last things they want to do before they start their day or even end it. Slow down and take your time, by doing so, you will not only be doing your teeth and gums a favor, but you will also prolong the life of your toothbrush.
  • Zero Waste Tools:
    • Toothbrush: Many people switch from the every day store bought, plastic toothbrush to either an electric toothbrush or a natural, recycled-material’d toothbrush. Reduce your waste!
      • It is recommended that you replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months. If you are still using those manual toothbrushes, RE-USE and RE-PURPOSE them! There are many things around your house that you can use your old toothbrushes for. Be creative (;
    • Floss: We are all told to floss every day. But what about the materials used in our floss? There are many compostable, nylon & plastic-free flosses on the market. You can also reduce your waste by using a floss that can be refilled rather than buying a whole new floss container.
