Ensure the Health of Your Teeth and Gums With Preventive Care

Preventative dentistry is an area of general dentistry that primarily deals with the preservation of one’s overall dental and oral health by preventing various forms of dental and oral disease. In preventative dentistry, the term “preventative” or “preventive” entails taking necessary actions to maintain tooth health while staying away from cavities, dental caries, gum diseases, dental infections, tooth decay and other sorts of oral problems, instead of waiting for them to occur or cause serious dental problems.

The best preventative dentistry applies several preventive measures through modern dental care. Visiting Dr. Benjamin at Marina Tooth Fairy for aesthetic dentistry can avert developing periodontal disease, infection, or tooth decay, thereby preserving your teeth from possible loss or pain.

We Are a Mercury-Free Office

“Silver fillings,” as they are sometimes called, are amalgam restorations, which consist of mercury, silver, tin, copper and zinc. Mercury is a toxic metal; therefore we have not placed these types of restorations for many years. To remove these amalgam mercury fillings, we use a filtration system, which safely disposes of this hazardous material.

  • Orthodontics/Invisalign®

    Orthodontics/Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a breakthrough technology that lets you get the smile you always wanted without bands, brackets or wires. By using clear removable aligners, it straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Invisalign® technology treats the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or something more extreme, Invisalign can help. It is successful at treating crowding, excess spacing of teeth or even overbites, under bites, and cross bites.

Traditional braces are effective, but many people like the new invisible and removable Invisalign appliances. The Invisalign® technique utilizes a transparent, custom-fitted appliance.  It is thin so comfort is routine, and since it is clear, it is essentially invisible in your mouth! It is easy to remove to eat, brush and floss.

  • Oral Cancer Screening

    Oral Cancer Screening

At the front line in the fight against oral cancer, we at Marina Tooth Fairy have the best tools to help protect our patients from this deadly disease. Sapphire Plus Lesion Detection (LD) is that tool. Sapphire Plus LD provides enhanced visual information so we can better detect and diagnose the presence of cancer or pre-cancer, which is why Sapphire Plus LD is a routine part of all the complete visual and physical exams we perform in our practice. Early detection is the key!  When cancer is discovered late, survival rates are as low as 28%; when it’s discovered early; survival rates are as high as 82%. Getting screened is an effective way to discover oral cancer at an early, highly curable stage. With Sapphire Plus Lesion Detection, we can even detect lesions before they produce any pain or symptoms.

  • Oral Salivary DNA Testing

    Oral Salivary DNA Testing

Oral HPV is a manifestation of the HPV virus in the mouth, and is primarily found in the oropharyngeal complex. Early detection and identification of the presence or absence of oral HPV is important, as early oral HPV infections do not typically cause any clinical signs or symptoms.

Dr. Benjamin and her team are one of the few San Francisco dental offices in the Bay Area that offer this procedure.  Please feel free to ask any of our team members about it.

  • Canker Sore Therapy

    Canker Sore Therapy

Have you ever had a canker sore? The official term for them is an apthous ulcer. If you’ve ever had one you know how painful a canker sore can be and how unbearable it feels to wait for them to heal. It could be a week to two-week wait! Dental lasers are an amazing answer to the suffering that has been associated with canker sores.

A dental soft tissue laser used for 30 – 45 seconds can relieve the pain that canker sores cause. The dental laser doesn’t even touch the lesion! It is literally waved like a magic wand over the lesion. After the dental laser is moved over the lesion, the stinging, burning pain is gone!

  • Cold Sore Therapy

    Cold Sore Therapy

Cold sores are a common nuisance. Although there is no cure for the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) that causes them, cold sore breakouts can be managed and avoided. Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, appear around the lips and mouth and are often associated with red, swollen and irritated skin around the breakout areas. Laser treatment at Marina Tooth Fairy is the most effective way to heal and prevent cold sore breakouts. Laser treatment not only relieves pain, but prevents future outbreaks as well.
